Women’s Empowerment Events

Ishtar’s Circle, in collaboration with the Assyrian Policy Institute, was proud to host its inaugural Assyrian Women in Leadership Brunch on December 11, 2021 - the first of our Empowerment Events aimed to uplift and inspire Assyrian Women.  It was an incredible experience which brought together over 50 women with diverse backgrounds, experiences and a collective love for uplifting women in our community.  We shared stories about our lives, connected on many levels, and left the event feeling inspired and renewed. 

On April 23, 2023 we were able to host our second Empowerment Event where we honored a handful of trailblazing women in our community for their roles in the advancement of the first accredited Assyrian Language Program in the nation, DS219 in Skokie, Illinois.

Thank you Carmen Al-Bazi, Caroline Benjamin, Ramina Samuel and Illinois State Rep Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz for all your work that brought this program to life.

Words can’t describe the joy it brings us to gather Assyrian Women together in all their power.

To that end, we are committed to providing more opportunities for women in our community to come together, inspire one another, and connect and support each other.
